Wrotham lies in the shadow of the scarp slope of
the North Downs in Kent. It is situated on the main route from London
to Canterbury, and as such has been an important stopping point
for pilgrims and travellers for many centuries. The village is relatively
unspoilt by modern development and contains many 18th C properties.
As a consquence, it retains considerable charm and is well worth
a stop to lunch at one of its nice pubs.
Wrotham is the origin of many of my Fulljames and
Fremlin ancestors, some of whom ran the Rose and Crown and Black
Horse.
