Charles White was a tenant farmer, working part of the Lowdnes-Stone-Norton estate in Chalford. The White family farmed Chalford Green Farm, now Upper Chalford Farm, for over 150 years. The adjacent farm, Manor Farm, was run by the Stevens family into which he married. Charles served as Churchwarden for Aston Rowant in 1761. The origins of Charles are speculative. The most likely candidate is Charles White born to William White in Wheatfield, although this is not proven.
