Violet's nature was completely opposite to that of her husband. She was outgoing and gregarious type of person who enjoyed a drink in company and was particularly fond of Guiness. She was a very generous person and would give you her last penny to help out if in difficulty. In later years, she played the piano in the local public house known as the "Woodman" in Blackfen. Her fee for the musical treat was a "few" free drinks, but I am sure her playing was enjoyed by the company at large.
