Chalford is a small hamlet in the parish of Aston Rowant. In the 18th and 19th Centuries, the hamlet was the home to my White family. The hamlet contained two farms, Manor Farm and Chalford Green Farm, rented from the Brightwell Estate. Manor Farm was of approx 263 acres, whereas Chalford Green Farm was around 202 acres. Manor Farm was farmed by the Stevens family and later John Fields. Chalford Green Farm was the homestead of the White family. The last White resident was Thomas White, grandson of Eden White. Tithe and enclosure maps of Chalford identify Chalford Green Farm as Upper Chalford Farm Barn and identify this as the White homestead.
